Farrington, Chiasson double dip

OXFORD, Maine – It was double trouble for the competition Friday night at Oxford Plains Speedway, with Dave Farrington Jr. and Cody Chiasson each scoring a pair of feature wins in the JARRacing Photography Go Kart Series.

Farrington aced the Unrestricted and Star Champ features, leading 36 of a possible 40 laps. The multi-sport athlete from Jay High School scored his 21st and 22nd career checkered flags at OPS, pulling him within three of Nick Brown for the all-time, all-division lead.
Chiasson collected his second straight win in the Purple Plate division and added a Box Stock conquest for good measure.
Kayla Ashline (Gold Plate) and Troy Davis (Blue Plate) also returned to the winner's circle. It was Davis' second win a row in his new class, while Ashline prevailed in her first visit to the track this season.
Charging from fourth to first in the first four laps, Farrington took the lead with an inside pass of three-time GKS champion and Unrestricted rookie Dan Pelletier Jr. Opening-night winner Tyler Braunschweig took over second on the halfway lap. He couldn't take any bites out of Farrington's advantage, however, and was left to ward off a resurgent Pelletier for second.
Walt Dearborn applied pressure to Farrington's rear rail for the first 10 laps of the Star Champ encounter. After that, Farrington fled the scene and cruised home, giving him at least one win in four different JARRacing divisions. Dearborn ran second, with Stephen Beattie a distant third.
Chiasson survived the wildest race of the night, overcoming eight cautions to capture the Box Stock tangle. Chiasson was involved in one of those melees, but he rebounded to reclaim the lead on lap 12 and set sail. Ethan Matot avoided the carnage and came home a career-best second, while reigning division champion Brandon Varney recovered from three spins for a hard-earned third.
Spencer Thompson offered some resistance in a relatively calm Purple Plate sprint. Chiasson took the lead just prior to the lone caution on lap 10, though, and rambled to the repeat victory over Thompson and Zachary Rich.
Ashline swept the Gold Plate heat and feature en route to her second Oxford win. Ashline swiped the point from Kyle Metivier on lap 12 and denied Metivier his second straight score since graduating from Blue Plate, where he captured the 2006 title. Metivier and third-place Josh Brown rallied from a mid-race spin together to take home trophies.
Davis led the Blue Plate battle for the duration in front of rookie runner-up Dustin Bisson.
