A few drivers who practiced on Saturday were unable to compete in Sunday’s 75-lap Late Model Pro Stock event because of mechanical difficulties. This included the veteran Frank Fraser (#23) of Shubenacadie, N.S. who was scheduled to make a return to Pro Stock racing after a number of years away from the driving duties. Unfortunately, Frank blew the engine on his racecar during Saturday’s practice.
In Sportsman Super Series action, Freddy Prosser (#31) of Shenstown, NB drove his Quepog Coasters Monte Carlo to victory in the 75-lap main event ahead of Wayne Wormell (#23) of Miramichi and Luc Bourgeois (#88) of Memramcook. Prosser, who had only recorded one heat win at CFS during 2006, took advantage of a restart on lap 21 to bolt ahead of pole-sitter Wormell and then hung on for the win in the 14-car feature. Wormell had earlier captured the first win of 2007 crossing the finish line first in the first 10-lap heat while Bourgeois drove his Ford Fusion to the win in the second 10-lap preliminary heat.
Next event at the CFS will be the Seely’s Motel points race on Sunday, May 20 at 2:00 p.m. This will be the first points racing event for 2007 for Sportsman, Street Stock, TigerCat and Thundercat competitors. Stock car racing events at CFS will be held every Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. during the months of May and June.
