Lawler Holds Off Local Favorite Greenwood for “South Carolina Clash” Triumph
CONCORD, NC (June 3, 2007) – Ryan Lawler is now two-for-two in the 2007 Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model tour with a hard-earned victory over local favorite Gary Greenwood, Jr. in the “South Carolina Clash” 125-lap event at Anderson Motor Speedway (SC).
Lawler started from the pole and led the first three laps before relinquishing it to fast-qualifier Preston Peltier. Peltier and Ted Musgrave, Jr. swapped the lead in the early portion of the race before Lawler began to flex his muscle once again. The Colleyville, TX native took the lead on lap 33 and led until lap 109, when Greenwood took the advantage.
Greenwood’s hopes for a hometown triumph were still intact even after losing the lead to Lawler on lap 111, as the Anderson, SC resident stuck to Lawler’s bumper while the leaders navigated through lapped traffic. Lawler proved too strong, however, and went on to score his second PASS South feature win of the year. He also won the Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory Motor Speedway (NC) in April.
Lawler took his third career PASS South victory at Anderson over Greenwood, Johnny Brazier, Jason Hogan and Ben Rowe.
The PASS South competitors have a short turnaround before their next event, next Saturday, June 9th at Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, NC for the “Orange Blossom Special.”
