Just two weeks prior to officially taking over operation of Wiscasset Raceway, incoming owner Doug White held an open meeting at the track Wednesday night to discuss the return of Pro-Stocks to Maine’s fastest oval.  White began the meeting by introducing John Clark of Clark Car Crushing of Hallowell as the division’s title sponsor for the remainder of the 2007 season. The “Clark’s Car Crushing Pro Stock Series” will hold a practice session Saturday July 28th and then commence with its first actual race Saturday August 4th. The division will run a 50 lap feature as part of the weekly Wiscasset Raceway program.

In his comments to the approximately fifty drivers, owners, and other interested parties in attendance, White made it clear that he was open to suggestions regarding the resurrection of the Pro-Stocks at Wiscasset. The class has not been part of the weekly program at Wiscasset Raceway since 2003. White set a positive tone for what was a very informative meeting, covering everything from rules, purse, tires, etc. Of particular interest was the makeup of the potential Pro-Stock field. He stated that current PASS rules will apply for the remainder of the 2007 season and that a season end review will help create an established set of Wiscasset Pro-Stock rules for 2008 and beyond. He also suggested that since some drivers are currently involved with various racing venues and are governed by different rules, he may be willing to allow incoming drivers to race their cars “as is” for the first few weeks and make minor adjustments to level the field.

Doug White and his wife Becky recently purchased Wiscasset Raceway from David & Sandra St Clair earlier this season and he will take over the reigns of control Saturday July 28th at 6:00pm. There will be a pre-race ceremony in which St Clair will “officially” hand over control of the track to Doug. To show appreciation to drivers and fans, admission for the July 28th show will be half price on both the grandstand side and pit side.
