(Hermon, Me) Several tracks across the Pine Tree State were rained out, but Mother Nature cut Maine’s Family Fun Track, Speedway 95 a break, for an awesome night of racing, and not a drop of rain.
The Sport-Four Series took to the track for the second race in their three-race season, with all that you would expect from the class, lots of action, drama, and crashes. Former Champion Justin Trombley of Winter Harbor earned the win in the race, taking the lead at the first lap and surviving three caution flags, and a red flag for a roll over. David Green of Hampden took second, Adam Russell of Bedford third. Mike Hopkins of Hermon gave Trombley a run for the top spot before flipping over in the back-stretch near turn three. “I knew I had to keep going through lapped traffic,” said Trombley in victory lane, “If I messed up, he was going to win.”
Greg Morse of St. Albans grabbed the pole, and held the lead in the Sportsman ProStock division until the first caution flag flew at lap 32. Winterport’s Ryan Deane proved stronger on the restarts, and took the lead with 3 to go and earned the win. Paul White of Corinna grabbed second, and Morse settled for a third place finish.
After two weeks of transmission issue, Brenton Parritt found his way back to the front of the field to earn the win in Limited Sportsman race, Deane Smart of Bradley crossed the line for second, and rookie Frank Moulton of Unity ended the night third.
Smokin’ Joe put on the show for the Super Streets, earning the pole, and leading every lap in the Super Street race. Behind him, Steve Moulton of Glenburn took second, and defending champion John Kalel, II of Orrington finished third. There were two cautions in the race, and one red flag when Van Kitchen of St. Albans, and Greg Pung of Franklin went airborne and rolled in the back-stretch.
Pole Sitter Brad Norris of Ellsworth grabbed his first win of the season in the Strictly Streets by holding the top spot for all 25 laps. Rowland “”JR Rockin’” Robinson earned the second place honors, and Shawn Sperrey of Hermon scored the third place finish in the caution free race
The Quirk Chevrolet Super Cup series stopped by for some action at the track, with Rich Hall of Mechanic falls earning the win in the caution free affair. Josh Ireland of Howland finished second with his father, Fred Ireland, also of Howland taking the third spot.
