Hermon, Me) The weekend racing at Speedway 95 was fast paced, and low on cautions, but hi in drama, in a race date that included the championship in the three race Sportsman Pro-Stock Series.
Scott Alexander of Orrington and Doug Day from Glenburn earned the inside, and outside pole spots for the start of the third and final 50-lap race in the Sportsman Pro-Stock Series. The pair raced for the top lead until a caution at lap 12. After two attempts to restart the race evenly, the pair was sent to the tail end of the line-up. Ryan Deane of Winterport and Paul White of Corrinna started at the front of the field as a result of the penalty. At the end of the contest, Deane held the top spot to earn the win, and White settled for second. John Phippen, Jr. of Town Hill finished third. When the points were tallied up, Deane had captured the series championship by four points over White.
An early caution jumbled up the leaders in Limited Sportsman division. The shuffle, put Bobby Seger, Jr. of Winterport in a position to grab the win. Nick Jenkins of Milo, took second, and Rowland Robinson, Sr. of Steuben in third. The caution flag rested from lap 3 until lap 22, where it came out for an incident with Rookie Frank Moulton of Unity, and Shane Clark of Winterport, after two caution flags in a row on two consecutive restarts, the smoke cleared, and Seger held out for the win
Steve Moulton of Glenburn earned the win after taking the top spot from his brother, Jeff Overlock, Jr. of Hermon at lap 14, and holding it to the checkered flag, in the caution-free Super Street race. Kris Watson of Hermon came in second, but was DQ-ed in a post race inspection, handing second to defending champion, John Kalel, II, of Orrington, and third to Mike Overlock of Franklin.
The Strictly Street division went caution free, with Rookie Tim Daggett of Alton picking up his first win, after leading the race, from green to checkers. Jim Carr, Jr. of Clifton, look to the inside of Daggett a few times, but couldn’t find his way past the rookie, so he settled for the second place finish. Rowland, “Jr ROCKIN’” Robinson finished third.
Lapped traffic split the leaders in the Sport Four Division, at lap 15, allowing Lewis Batchelder of Dixmont to pass outside pole sitter David Green of Hampden, and drive to the win in the Sport Four division. Although Steve Heath of Brownville finished third, he was DQ-ed in a post race inspection, allowing Spencer Garvin of Belfast to upgrade from fourth to third in the finishing order.
