BARRE, VT – Booth Brothers Dairy, Vermont’s Freshest and Finest, and H.P. Hood will present the coveted Pole Award at the 44th Annual Chittenden Milk Bowl stock car race at Barre, VT’s Thunder Road International Speedbowl on Saturday, Sept. 29.  American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model competitors from across the northeastern United States and Canada will attempt to break the Thunder Road single-lap time trial record of 12.935 seconds set last year by teenage sensation Joey “Pole” Polewarczyk, Jr. of Hudson, NH.

“I’d love to beat my own record,” said the recent Alvirne (NH) High School graduate.  “We know what it takes to get the pole, but it all comes down to the weather in Vermont.  Thunder Road’s track surface changes so much depending on the weather; it plays a big part in the time trials.”

Booth Bros./H.P. Hood Time Trials will determine the top-three starters in the 2007 Chittenden Milk Bowl, with the balance of the 30-car field set by “Triple 50” qualifying races on Saturday afternoon and Sunday’s last-chance “B” Feature.

Polewarczyk smashed the previous one-lap time trial record held by perennial ACT Late Model Tour Champion and former Chittenden Milk Bowl winner Jean-Paul Cyr of Milton, VT.  Cyr’s 2005 record of 13.067 seconds lasted just one season.  Polewarczyk went on to win the first 50-lap segment of the Chittenden Milk Bowl and post an overall finish of third place, a career-best effort at the time.  The youngster has four podium finishes in 2007, including a win at Seekonk (MA) Speedway in August.

The 44th Annual Chittenden Milk Bowl is a three-segment, cumulatively scored “Monza-style” event, in which the driver with the lowest total combined score after all three rounds is declared the winner and earns the right to kiss a real Vermont beauty – an Ayrshire cow!  The Milk Bowl Champion will also walk away with a whopping $10,000 guaranteed ACTion Super Series winner’s purse, plus lap leader and contingency bonuses.

Thunder Road’s weekly NAPA Tiger Sportsman, Allen Lumber Street Stock, and Power Shift Online Junkyard Warrior divisions highlight Saturday’s Booth Bros./H.P. Hood action with qualifying heat races and the championship season finale for the entry-level Warrior division.  Hardwick, VT driver Bunker Hodgdon is seeking his first Thunder Road title in the division, while hometown driver Nick Sweet and Hinesburg, VT rookie Bobby Therrien lead the Sportsman and Street Stock divisions, respectively.  The 2007 Sportsman and Street Stock championships wrap up in conjunction with the Chittenden Milk Bowl on Sunday.

General admission for Booth Bros./H.P. Hood Qualifying Day is just $10 for adults and free for children 12 and under.  On-track action begins at 1:30 pm on Saturday, Sept. 29.  Two-day general admission for the 44th Annual Chittenden Milk Bowl is only $25 for adults and $5 for kids.  The Sunday, Sept. 30 last-chance “B” Feature for the ACT Late Model Tour begins at 1:00 pm, followed by Chittenden Milk Bowl pre-race ceremonies.  For more information, call (802) 244-6963 or visit www.thunderroadspeedbowl.com or www.acttour.com.
