Justin Wakefield and Carswell Motorsports ready to launch 2008 at the PASS Easter Bunny 150
Justin Wakefield and his team are looking forward to getting back to Super Late Model Racing for the 2008 season by running for both the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South and National Championships.
After four successful seasons in the NASCAR Autozone Elite Division that included a win in the final race at Greenville-Pickens Speedway, the team spent 2007 racing the heavier stock cars of the ultra competitive Hooters Pro Cup Series.
Team owner Jake Carswell explains, “when NASCAR ended our series, there was no other series to race our type of cars so we went to Hooters. Later on, we raced with PASS between our Hooters schedule, and we really felt at home. With the great schedule that they have put together for 2008 we decided to come over to PASS full time.” There will be one big difference for the team this year; they spent the winter building a new Port City straight rail chassis. Justin Wakefield is excited about the new car “To race with PASS before, we converted our NASCAR car to fit their rules. It was always competitive in the race but was at a disadvantage weight wise. This year we put together a new offset chassis and I really love the way it drives. We tested at Hickory this week and the car really felt great, I can’t wait to see what it will do in a race.” The team will be consulted again this year by legendary short track driver, Jody Ridley. Justin says, “Having Jody in our pits is such an advantage, he picks up on so many little things that we miss”
Look for Justin and the team driving the familiar blue #98 Ford at Hickory and other PASS races throughout 2008.
