(Hermon, Me) Father’s Day weekend racing featured bonus laps, and a double purse for the Sport-Four division at Speedway 95, plus the second race in the CAM II racing fuels Super Street Series.
The first few cautions came in succession in the CAM II racing fuels 50-lapper with a roll over in lap 4, a crash for point’s leader Kris Watson of Hermon on lap 5, and trouble for Doug Sinclair of Hermon at lap 6. Once back underway, Sinclair got back up to speed, to ride in second behind Artie Maguire of Bucksport at the end of the 50 laps. In the tech garage, Maguire’s ride did not pass inspection, handing the win to Sinclair. Greg Pung took second, as a result of the DQ, and Richard Burrill of Sullivan, was upgraded to a third place finish.
In the double purse race for the Sport-Fours, sponsored by Gardner Construction Enterprises, there were 30-laps, and 5 cautions. Mike Hopkins earned the pole, but fell back in the early going and lost several spots. The Hermon resident started to make up lost ground throughout the race, and after a caution at lap 26 was back at the front of the field to take the win, with David Green of Hampden second, and Bangor’s Jason Trundy third.
The red flag came out on lap 11 of the Pro-Limited race, after a hard crash by Dale Swoboda caused the car to flip over. At the restart, pole sitter Scott Modery of Hermon held off a charge by Deane Smart of Bradley to take the win. Smart had his hands full too, holding off several pass attempts by Steuben’s Brenton Parritt, who finished third.
Jordan Pearson of Glenburn picked up two wins for the evening, one in the Full Size Truck division, the second in the Strictly Streets. Pearson held off his older sibling, Derek Pearson to earn the win, but Derek was side-by-side at the checkered flag with rookie Wayne Parritt, Jr. of Steuben who gave him a run of his money in the closing laps.
Jordan Pearson grabbed made it a double checkered flag night in the truck race, finishing ahead of “Big Ern,” Ernie Wallace of Winterport. Andrew Crosby of Hermon finished third, with his father Brett Crosby right behind him, collecting the forth spots.
Josh Ireland earned the win in the Maine Super Cup Racing League feature.
