SPEEDWAY 95 NEWS RELEASE July 26th, 2008
By Bill DaButler
(Hermon, Me) Budweiser night was held at Speedway 95 in Hermon on Saturday, July 26th.
In the Pro-Limited heat race, Brenton Parritt of Steuben suffered mechanical issues and had to leave the race, but hard work on the vehicle between the heat and feature brought Parritt back out for the feature race, where he took the lead early and held it to the checkered flag. Last weeks feature winner Dale Swoboda crossed the line for second, with Duane Seekins of Stockton Springs in third, in the caution-free race.
Kris Watson was back on his game in the Super Streets earning the pole and taking the win in the caution free feature. Greg Pung of Franklin finished the race in third, and Travis Beale of Winterport grabbed the third spot. Mike Overlock of Franklin managed to hold onto fourth despite throttle problems in both the heat and feature race.
Heat race winner Jordan Pearson elected not to start in Strictly Street feature race after a disagreement over a black flag penalty in the earlier truck race, and as a result, lost his standing at the top of the points standing. Wayne Parritt, Jr. of Steuben continued his hot streak with another win, and moved to the top spot in the points. Brad Norris of Ellsworth joined the winner’s circle in second, with Travis Poulin of Holden in third.
Steve Moulton of Glenburn picked up another win, making it two in the row, after a passing Brownville’s Roy Hathorn with a lap and a half to go in the Sport-Four Feature. Hathorn was scored as second, and David Shorey of Old Town finished third.
Jordan Pearson of Glenburn and Andrew Crosby of Hermon where running side-by-side and rubbing hard, at lap 16 of the Full-Size Pick-up race, when something had to give. Pearson got loose in the backstretch, and got into Crosby, causing Crosby to spin out and draw out the yellow flag. Assuming the move was intentional Crosby went after Pearson under caution causing both to be black-flagged for the night. Jim Carr, Jr. of Clifton picked up the win when the race resumed, and Dana Harlow of Orrington took second with Crosby’s father Brett Crosby finishing third. Another competitor, Anthony Moore of Brewer spin with just over one lap to go, and got out of his truck, also drawing out a black flag for the night.
