Scarborough,Maine- Steve Carrier crossed the finish line first on Saturday night at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway but that also meant he was first to arrive upon a stalled car that had just spun entering turn 1 on the final lap. The joy of victory was short lived for carrier as he could not avoid the car of Bill Rodgers and suffered a head on collision with both cars suffering extensive damage.
Once Carrier shook off the cobwebs he walked to victory lane as his heavily damaged racer was hauled off to the pit area. Carrier had taken the lead from Mike Maietta Jr on lap 10 of the 40 lap race and then had to face off with current division champion Bub Bilodeau for a restart on lap 19. Carrier was able to pull back in front and stayed there to the finish.
Bilodeau finished second with David Oliver winning the hard fought battle for third place. Bobby Babb crossed the finish line fourth with Maietta Jr posting the fifth position.
Bradley Babb won his first Sport Series feature race on Saturday night as the rookie driver had to survive 5 caution flags that plagued the race. Babb went through intense challengers like Andy Field and Dalton Gagnon who all poked their car into the lead briefly during the race.
Babb was able to fight them all off to take the win over Field in second and Corey Bubar another young driver in third. Doug Wolfe and Scott Dorr rounded out the top five finishers.
Lyman McKeage won another Wildcat feature race on Saturday night after he chased down race leader Steve Benincasa on lap 16. McKeage would have to deal with a lap 28 caution flag that set the stage for a 2 lap race to the checkered flag which he handily took. Benincasa was second with Shawn Gilpatrick third. The field scattered at the checkered flag as a car spun but the finish saw Brian Caswell fourth and Lewis Anderson fifth.
Ray Dinsmore won for the first time in his career Saturday night taking the entry level Road Runner feature win. Kari Thibodeau had a great showing as she led the first 14 laps of the race until Dinsmore went to the front. Mark Sylvain made a late race charge to the front but had to settle for second place with Shawn Brackett third. David Palmer and David Cameron were fourth and fifth.
