(Hermon, Me) Linnehan’s Credit Now! Auto Company sponsored racing in the big way this weekend at Speedway 95, giving away a 2005 Ford Explorer valued at $10,000 to Ron Burns of Bangor, and tickets and pit passes to the upcoming Sprint Cup race at New Hampshire Speedway to Mary Overlock of Hermon.
2007 Defending champion Lewis Batchelder started the season with an uphill battle to reclaim his championship for 2008 in the Sport-Four division, but his late season charge has put him back on top of the standings, and earned him the championship on the 3 race series. Batchelder took the win in the final series race and edged out Jason Trundy of Old Town at the checkered flag. With two races remaining Batchelder leads Trundy in the overall standings by 13 points.
Brenton Parritt of Steuben picked up the win in the Pro-Limited division over Shane Clark of Winterport. Clark managed to hold on for the second place finish despite a run from Steuben’s Rowland Robinson, Jr. who dipped to the inside of Clark to try unsuccessfully to pass. Robinson settled for a third place finish at the checkered flag in the caution free race.
Jordan Pearson of Glenburn found himself at the front of the field in Strictly Street field at lap 9 when it became a three-wide battle for second, with Wayne Parritt, Jr. of Steuben, Brad Norris of Ellsworth, and Jim Carr, Jr. of Clifton. Norris got loose, and recovered, but the throttle stuck in Jim Carr’s ride, forcing him into the fence at turn four and drawing out the only caution. Parritt earned the second spot, and Norris finished his night in third.
For the first time this season the 2007 Super Street Champion, and current Sport-Four driver, Steve Moulton of Glenburn joined the field in the Sport-Four race, and went on to take the win. Point’s leader Jordan Pearson of Glenburn took second, and Anthony Moore of Brewer finished third. There were 4 caution flags thrown in the race.
RJ Pinkham of North Anson picked up the win in both the Maine Super Cup Racing League feature and heat race.
