Naples ME (October 13,2008)– The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South super late models have two big back to back race weekends coming up, and both races will crown PASS Champions.
Saturday October 18th, the touring pros head for South Carolina’s Greenville-Pickens Speedway for The Howler, 150 green flag laps of super late model thunder that will decide the 2008 PASS National Championship. The Howler is the fourth and final round of the Championship series; Cassius Clark will make the trip from Maine to try and defend his 2007 Howler win and take home the National honors. Clark leads John Stancill by just 15 points heading to Greenville, so the title is definitely up for grabs. Alex Haase will attempt to sweep the two PASS South events at Greenville-Pickens for 2008, and Corey Williams will be going all out to try and build upon his slim 24 point lead over Haase in the battle for the PASS South Championship. There are pre-entries from Texas to New Brunswick Canada already signed up.
Gates open at 11:00 AM and PASS practice gets underway Saturday October 18th at 1:00 PM, with PASS time trials scheduled for 4:00 PM. Youngsters are encouraged to attend in their Halloween costumes for a Halloween contest and some trick-or-treating with the PASS stars during the meet and greet from 6:15-7:00 PM. There is an optional practice session for all competing divisions slated for Friday October 17th. Gates open at 2:00 PM with practice scheduled for 4:00 until 7:05 PM.
Then the fastest full fendered racers in the east will travel to Virginia’s South Boston Speedway on Friday and Saturday October 24 and 25 for the Mason-Dixon 500, a short track spectacular that will feature twin 250 lap features for the PASS Super Late Models and NASCAR Late Model Stock Cars. Each feature will pay a whopping $10,000.00 to the winner.
The PASS pre-entry list includes teams from ten states and two Canadian provinces, and the field is guaranteed to be one of the finest super late model line-ups assembled this season. When the checkers drop one racer will be $10,000.00 richer and the 2008 PASS South Super Late Model Champion will be crowned. Will they be one and the same? You’ve got to be there and find out!
Grandstands open Friday, October 24 at 3:00 PM. Practice for the PASS Super Late Models and the NASCAR Late Models is scheduled from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM.Time trials will get the green flag at 4:00 PM, and twenty-five lap qualifying races will close out the first day of the Mason Dixon 500 at 7:00 PM.
Grandstand gates will open Saturday, October 25 at 11:00 AM. At 12:00 noon there’s 50-lap Last Chance races for the PASS Super Late Models and the NASCAR Late Models. A Fan Appreciation Session will begin at 1:30 p.m. trackside and will continue until 2:30 p.m. The NASCAR Late Models will get the green flag for their 250-lap race feature at 3:00 PM, followed by the PASS Super Late Models in a 250-lap shootout.
