Despite some early afternoon rain showers and minor delays we got our fourth race of the year in on Saturday.  We had a good turnout of drivers from all over the northeast, with 13 making the trip to southern New Hampshire.  The race length was shortened to 30 laps due to weather in the area but that didn’t shorten the excitement at all.

Brad Dwinal started on the pole and broke out to the early lead over Rhode Island’s Roger Ducharme. Dwinal lead the first 6 circuits when Ricky Porter passed the ill handling #9me in the first turn. Ricky made a hard run to the front battling most cars three-wide in the first few laps on an effort to get to the front before Emerson Cayer. Ricky broke out to about a half straightaway lead while Emerson battled some tough top 5 traffic.

Billy Osborne, a Lee USA small block super regular came and made his presence known in his Volkswagen. Without any cautions slowing the field Emerson didn’t have the chance to catch the breakaway car of Porter to but a battle on for the lead. In the end it was Ricky Porter taking home is first NEMST win with a strong showing at his home track leading 24 laps and taking the VictoryLaneFOrum.com Most Laps Lead Award. Cayer made another great points day coming home second and taking home the Mainely Motorsports Hard Charger Award for the second time this year. The 3 car battle for third ended up going to Billy Osborne, with Brad Dwinal in fourth in front of Loren Smith.
