JOSH ST. CLAIR RETURNS TO SPEEDWAY 95 WINNER’S CIRCLE

After 2 weeks of sub par performance, Josh St. Clair of Liberty drove a flawless race to lead the Late Model feature from green to checkers Sunday afternoon at Speedway 95. Three times in the first 10 laps, St. Clair beat pole sitter Duane Seekins of Stockton Springs on a restart to keep the No. 33 on the outside for the start and out front for the race. Once out front, St. Clair was never challenged as he continued to increase his lead under green flag conditions. Behind him though, Hermon’s Dale Swoboda was again using the inside groove to move from his 10th place starting spot in to the second place spot he claimed at the finish. Also using the inside groove to move forward was Josh’s grandfather, Dave St. Clair of Liberty, who started third and ended third, passing Seekins for the spot mid way through the event. Seekins ended up in fourth at the finish, followed by Bangor’s Doug Day in fifth. The caution flag first flew on lap 2 when Bruce Coulter lost traction as the outside car in a three wide battle in turn three, landing him in the tire wall in turn four and out of the race. On lap 8, Joey Doyon of Winterport, John Kalel II of Orrington, Brenton Parritt and J.R. Robinson of Steuben all spun and collided going into turn 1. Doyon was the only casualty, as the others drove away while Doyon was towed to the pits.Robinson and Swoboda won the qualifiers, but both had to start near the rear of the feature following their top three finishes last week.
