Story by Chris Roy
A new racing series here in Maine is the Maine Modified Tour. Drivers will be competing in a total of 11 races at tracks from Wiscasset Raceway to as far north as Spud Speedway in Caribo, Maine.
One of the drivers competing in the inaugural Maine Modified Tour is, Dustin “Lil Man” Bisson. He is making the move over from the Kart Racing. He has high expectations for the 2010 season racing full time in the Maine Mods, and maybe a “Lil” moonlighting in the Strickly Streets, and Mini Cups races.
When asked what he thought of the new Maine Modified Tour, Dustin had this to say,
“I am very excited about the new Maine Mods Series. It’s a blast to drive the cars and they look and sound awesome! I’ve raced a mini cup for 3 years and wanted to move up but, due to my age I would be unable to run the full series in Legends. Some of the tracks you need to be 16.”
Dustin is looking forward to competing in a touring series, traveling to different tracks providing a new challenge at every turn. Though he has already got some seat time behind the wheel doing some testing at Wiscasset Raceway and Unity Raceway.
For such a young racing career, Dustin has already captured 3 championships in stock mini cup but, his most memorable moment came when he finished 2nd in the “Kingfield’s Ducktona” race.
When I asked, “What have you been doing in the off season?”
Dustin replied, “What off season? The cars may not be on the Track but there’s always something to do. My parent rule is; if you wanna race it, you got to work on it. I think having a better under standing of the car helps me better explain what the cars are doing too.”
