BRENT, WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT OXFORD PLAINS SPEEDWAY?

The biggest thing about Oxford is just being smooth with the car. You don’t even need a brake pedal in the car. At most places we race at, you use a lot of brake getting into the corner. There, you just kind of roll through the turn and get back on the throttle early. It gives you a really good drive off the corner.

We’re going to go with a little bit different setup. It will be closer to what we ran in the (TD Bank) 250 last year. The track’s finally taken some rubber, so it will be a little different than it was when we were there last time.

HOW MUCH DO TRACK CONDITIONS CHANGE AT OXFORD?

It changes all day there. From the sun to clouds, it really changes. I was going through my notes — I can’t get over how much it changed the day we were there last month. From one practice to the next, the track is completely different than it was before.

DO YOU LOOK AT THIS WEEKEND AS A TEST FOR THE TD BANK 250 NEXT MONTH?

Not at all. It’s not the same. When we go there for the 250 in the middle of the summer, the track gets a lot hotter, it holds its heat in and the surface will have seen a lot of racing by then. We’re headed in that direction now, but it will be completely different (in mid-July).

YOU’RE OFF TO A GOOD START TO THE SEASON, SITTING SECOND IN THE STANDINGS JUST 52 POINTS BEHIND LEADER BRIAN HOAR.

We’re where we need to be, that’s for sure. It’s a lot better than we’ve been in ‘normal’ years. Usually this time of year we’re about 10th, so I’d say we’re in pretty good shape.
