Barre, VT – The Carquest Governor’s Cup 100 at Thunder Road International Speedbowl scheduled for Thursday, June 24 has been postponed due to heavy rains. The event has been rescheduled for tomorrow (Friday, June 25).

Montpelier’s Dave Pembroke, Graniteville’s John Donahue, Senator Phil Scott, Barre’s Nick Sweet and the rest of the Thunder Road Late Model stars will continue their 2010 championship battle in the 100 lap Carquest Governor’s Cup.

Pembroke has won the previous two Thunder Road Late Model 100 lappers, with the season opener at Devil’s Bowl Speedway and the Memorial Day Classic. Sweet took the checkers in the ACT Tour Merchant’s Bank 150, the first event at Thunder Road in 2010. But the hottest driver at the moment has to be Senator Phil Scott who took the checkers in the Ferguson Sunday twilight event and claimed second in this past Sunday’s Harvest Equipment twilight event.

Friday’s Carquest event will be the fifth in the Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen 2010 campaign. Bradford’s Derrick O’Donnell sits atop the point standings after claiming victory this past Sunday but Williamstown’s Mike Ziter sits just five points back. The remainder of the top five, Tony Rossi, Eric Badore, and Shawn Fleury are all within 15 points of the lead.

The Allen Lumber Street Stocks have a tie atop their point standings between Williamstown’s Mike MacAskill and Graniteville’s Travis Hull with Greg Adams of Hardwick just 29 points out of the lead. Cabot’s Ken Christman is the current Junkyard Warrior point leader after winning three of the first four features.

Friday’s (6/25) Carquest Governor’s Cup action at Thunder Road will start at 6:00pm. The front gate opens at 4:00pm, pit gate opens at 3:00pm. General admission for adults is just $12, kids (ages 6 to 12) are $3 and a family of four (2 adults and 2 kids) is $25.
