**********

JOEY, YOU’VE NEVER SEEN SPEEDWAY 660 BUT WHAT HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT IT?

It’s supposed to be flat. Some people said its like Beech Ridge. We excel on the flat tracks, and we really have since I started racing. We’ve always been good on the flatter tracks we’ve gone to and we always seem to struggle on the banked tracks.

Other than Oxford (Plains Speedway), places like Beech Ridge, Canaan, Star, we’ve always run pretty well at those tracks. I grew up racing at Beech Ridge, so a lot of my experience is on those kind of tracks. It’s kind of what I learned on.

NOW THAT YOU’VE HAD A COUPLE OF WEEKS OFF, WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON TWO SOLID PERFORMANCES TO START THE SEASON?

I’d say it’s really exceeded my expectations. I really didn’t think we’d be as high in the points as we are. I’m trying not to look at points — it’s only been two races — but we’ve gotten off to a good start. I’d like to keep going out and and finishing in the top-10 every week now.

I’d like to win a race, don’t get me wrong. I’d take a DNF if I could trade it for a win somewhere, but top-10s are good, too.

HAVE YOU HIT A COMFORT LEVEL YET IN YOUR YOUNG PASS NORTH SERIES CAREER?

I think I have. We definitely belong. The first two races were on totally opposite tracks. If anything, I had doubts we’d be that good at a banked track like White Mountain.

We ran as good at White Mountain last time as we did at Beech Ridge in the opener. I just need to get to a bumpy track now and see how we do there. That’s the only other question I have.
