Story by J. Stevens
Two weekends past, the students from the “Life Skills Class” were invited to Wiscasset Raceway, to watch a day of racing. Sunday June 13th, was full of excitement as over half a dozen different racing series hit the track. The day included cars bursting into flames, flipping upside down, and racing for the checkered flag to take the win.
The students got to take a tour through the pits to meet the owner of Wiscasset raceway, Doug White, along with some of the drivers as well. While touring the pits, they got to watch the race teams work on the cars. A bit later the cars hit the track for qualifying heat races.

During the intermission it was announced that Travis Weed, was this year’s recipient of 2010 Maine Racing Dreams. Travis received 4 tickets on the start – finish line to New Hampshire Motor Speedway to watch the drivers of the Sprint Cup Series take the track, Sunday June 27th.
Maine Racing Dreams would like to give a special thanks to Doug White of Wiscasset Raceway for inviting all the kids to experience all that goes on and off the track. Additionally, thank you to Knick Knack Racing Collectibles for donating T-shirts to the students of their favorite race car driver. Lastly, thank you to Chris Roy of Maineracing.com for donating the 4 tickets to the NASCAR race at NHMS.
