ACT Goodyear Speedweeks Cup Race Report
Multi-time ACT Late Model Tour champion Brian Hoar of Williston, Vt., won the second ACT 100 as part of the inaugural ACT Goodyear Speedweeks Cup at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., on Monday, February 14. Coupled with a sixth-place finish in Sunday night’s first 100-lap event, the seven-time ACT Late Model Tour champion finished second in overall standings in the RPM Motorsports No. 37 GossCars.com Dodge Charger. Hoar, who now has an all-time best 29 career wins in ACT Late Model Tour competition, was just a single point behind overall champion Joey Polewarczyk Jr. Hoar started 13th in the 26-car field on Monday and patiently worked his way to the front — not cracking the Top-5 until the halfway point of the race. On a Lap 72 restart, Hoar drove around leader Jonathan Urlin on the high groove and drove off unchallenged the rest of the way.

BRIAN, TALK ABOUT YOUR WIN.
It’s awesome. There’s three feet of snow at home, we can’t see any leaves on the trees, and there’s palm trees and sunshine down here. This is awesome. To come down to the Sunshine State and do this — I’ve always wanted to come down here and race — it’s just awesome.
It’s an awesome race track, a fast track, and it’s all about momentum with these cars. That high groove was really working for us.
HOW CRUCIAL WAS BEING ON THE OUTSIDE ON THAT FINAL RESTART?
It was huge. On that last restart, we just had the opportunity to be in the right spot at the right time. Thankfully, we were able to take advantage of it.
OBVIOUSLY, THIS TURNED OUT TO BE A BIG WEEK FOR YOU GUYS.
This crew worked really hard. When we unloaded here, we were junk. We worked really hard in practice, and I’m pumped.
This is what we came down here to do. We did everything we could to bring (the overall championship) home, but congrats to (Joey Polewarczyk Jr.). But congrats to all my guys, too. This was just awesome.
