Canaan, NH. – Valenti Modified Racing Series standouts, Doug Coby, Milford,
CT., and Jon McKennedy, E.Chelmsford, MA., will be in “defense” mode when
they embark on the historic Waterford, CT, Speedbowl, Saturday and Sunday,
April 2 and 3, for the 2011 season opener, the annual Budweiser Blastoff weekend.

The Waterford race is the first of a 17-race schedule for the Valenti sponsored tour.

Coby, at the wheel of the Czarnecki Bros. # 20 car, will be looking to defend his
two consecutive opening day wins while McKennedy seeks his third consecutive series championship. McKennedy was a four-time winner in 2010.

The two-day race program, highlighted by a 100 lap feature race on Sunday, will mark the 12th appearance at the Connecticut oval by the New England based series, now in it’s eighth year.

With 63 race teams registered for the 2011 season, a strong contingent of racers from throughout the northeast are expected to enter the Waterford event including former Speedbowl winners, 2008 Champion, Chris Pasteryak, Lisbon, CT., Les Hinckley, Windsor Locks, CT, and Steven Masse, Bellingham, MA.

Also prepping for the first race are, Kenny Barry, Preston, CT., Louie Mechalides, Tyngsboro, MA, Rowan Pennink, Huntingdon Valley, PA., Jack Bateman, Canaan, NH., Jacob Dore, Sanford, ME., and Norman Wrenn, Nashua, NH.,

Veteran driver Eddy Spiers, Beacon Falls, CT is set to return as is 2010 Koszela Speed Rookie of the Year, Todd Annarummo, Swansea, MA., Last years, ROC champion, Matt Hirshman, Northampton, PA.,Max Zachem, Preston, CT., Kenny Barry, also from Preston, and Mike Holdridge, Madison, CT.

Practice on Saturday will begin at 9 AM with qualifying at 2 PM. On Sunday, an
on track pit party will be held at 9:30 AM with features races beginning at 12 noon.
