The weekend of April 9 is fast approaching! Racers and race fans from coast to coast are making their preparations to converge on Wilkes County North Carolina for THE RACE at historic North Wilkesboro, the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South super late model mega race that will light up the night at the fabled speedway for the first time.
THE RACE entry list now at 75 and climbing
Pre entries for THE RACE continue to roll in. There’s some heavy hitters in the mail box this week including Joey Coulter, Becca Kasten, Mario Gosselin, Kevin Roberge and Brian Levant. Friday April 8 is qualifying day at North Wilkesboro and only the top fifteen will lock in through time trials, so the super late model qualifying races will serve up some of the weekend’s wildest competition. Expect more than seventy drivers to try and battle their way into Saturday night’s 300 lap showdown. It’s a can’t miss evening of sprint races packed with excitement. Practice gets under way at noon on Friday with time trials at 5:00 PM followed by the Super Late Model qualifiers. Best of all its just ten dollars for adults and five dollars for youngsters ages six through twelve!
Special Awards throughout the field
There’s a whopping $75,000.00 on the line for THE RACE winner but many of the motorsports industry’s top companies will provide special awards for the drivers that don’t take home the big payday.
The Hard Luck Award is one that no driver will want to win, but with 300 laps on the line there’s bound to be a team that has a bad day. Miller Welders and AR Bodies have teamed up to ease the pain for that race team with a new Miller Welder and a $750.00 discount on a complete Aluminum Racing Products ABC body, two awards that should help the Hard Luck Award winner make it to his or her next race.
Every driver likes to be the fastest and earning the fast time will be a little bit sweeter with a $250.00 product/services certificate from McGunegill Racing Engines, one of the country’s best known names when it comes to making horsepower.
Aluminum Racing Products (ARBodies.com) is also stepping up to present the “Front Runner” award. Their race representatives will put the numbers 6 through 10 in a hat and the team that finishes in the spot drawn will receive a $1500.00 discount certificate to be used against the purchase of one of their “M” package ABC super late model bodies.
Teams outside the top five will also be receiving product and service certificates from Crane Cams Ignition, CV Products, AP Racing, Bassett Racing Wheel, Quarter Master Industries and RE Suspension. These companies provide product and service awards to PASS racers at every PASS North and South super late model event.
