The Benjamin Motorsports team start the 2011 season at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway this past weekend. The team started the qualifying race in 6th. On the last lap of the heat the number 17 car would take the lead and win the heat.

That would start the team on the outside pole for the main event. At the start of the 150 lap feature Travis would fall in behind last season champion Johnny Clark and ride for the first 110 laps. On the next restart the transmission jammed dropping the team to 6th. On the next restart the transmission would jam again sending the Benjamin Motorsports team under the car to find 4th gear.

With 25 laps to go Travis would start 15 and at the checked flag the 17 car would finish 9th. “It was fun running up front most the night but I know we had a top 3 car, so its disappointing to end up 9th.” The next event will be at Star Speedway in Epping New Hampshire in two weeks.
