Joey Doiron: PASS North Series
Star Speedway Race Report

EPPING, N.H. – Joey Doiron of Berwick, Maine, finished 10th in the PASS North Series Star 150 at Star Speedway in Epping, N.H., on Saturday, May 14. It was Doiron’s first Top-10 of the season, but came in an unconventional fashion – after sitting in the second on the final restart of the race, he ended up with a wrecked race car along the frontstretch wall after contact with another car racing to the checkered flag. Doiron started third for his best start of the season and raced inside the Top-10 during the entire caution-filled event.

JOEY, WHAT HAPPENED ON THE FINAL LAP?

“We had a pretty good battle going right there, me and (Ben Rowe) I was kind of blocking him pretty bad, but it was the last lap. I expected him to get into me, so I’m not really upset about that. Then someone behind me thought it would be cool to put someone head-on into the wall. I won’t forget.

“The car’s pretty much destroyed, so I don’t even know if we’ll be able to make it to White Mountain (next weekend) now. The guy that wrecked me, he doesn’t even work on his own car. He just shows up and drives – so I guess he doesn’t have any respect for guys that have to work on their cars every week.”

HOW FRUSTRATING IS IT KNOWING YOU HAD A VERY COMPETITIVE CAR TONIGHT?

“It’s definitely frustrating. We started the day off really good. We won our heat race and started third. I was just plugging along. I missed a shift on the first restart of the race, and I got kind of mired back in traffic a little bit. I was just trying to save my tires and avoid the wrecks from there. We got into a little incident with a couple of cars down in Turn 1 – but it’s just tight racing here.”
