Russ Stoehr and Russ Wood, Jr. Win NEMA Features
Barre, VT – Waitsfield’s Grant Folsom claimed his third career Thunder Road Late Model feature win in the Harvest Equipment Sunday Twilight event on Sunday, June 19. Folsom got underneath polesitter Scott Payea after an early restart. After a several laps of banging doors with Payea on the outside, Folsom got free. During a long green flag run, Folsom distance himself from the remainder of the field, but a late caution erased his lead.
Runner-up finisher Chip Grenier didn’t have enough to get around Folsom over the final laps. A hard charging John Donahue came from 14th and might have contended for the lead, but ran out of laps and settled for third. Rookie driver Jimmy Hebert claimed his first top five in fourth, while defending champion Nick Sweet rounded out the top five. Phil Scott, Trampas Demers, Scott Payea, Cody Blake and Mike Bruno completed the top ten.
Russ Stoehr of Lakeville, MA won the 25 lap NEMA feature. He was followed by Greg Stoehr, Mike Horn, John Zych, Jr. and Jeremy Frankoski in the top five. Russ Wood, Jr. of Pelham, NH won the NEMA Lite 25 lap feature. Anthony Nocella, Andy Barrows, Randy Cabral, and Carl Medeiros, Jr. completed the top five. For more results visit www.nemaracing.com.
Eric Badore of Milton claimed his fourth career Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen feature win. He outran Shawn Fleury, Mike Ziter, John Lambert, and Blair Bessett in the top five. Josh Demers, George May, Derrick O’Donnell, Jason Allen and rookie Kyle Pembroke completed the top ten.
Rookie Allen Lumber Street Stock driver Ken Christman of Cabot earned his first career win. Kyle Streeter, Dave Whitcomb, Tim Campbell, and Alan Maynard rounded out the top five. Kevin Wheatley of Williamstown took his first Junkyard Warrior win of the season. Jason Woodard and Brock Parrott took the podium.
Thunder Road International Speedbowl will be back in action this Thursday, June 23 with the CARQUEST Vermont Governor’s Cup 100 for the Late Models. Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen, Allen Lumber Street Stocks and Junkyard Warriors will have regular events. Post time is scheduled for 6:00pm.
