PRO ALL STARS AND TOUR-TYPE MODS HEADLINE AT THOMPSON

PASS

THOMPSON, CT. An action packed night of racing is on tap for this Thursday at the Thompson International Speedway. The North and South contingents of the Pro All Stars Series will be joined by the very popular Tour-Type Modifieds in a midsummer racing spectacular. These two exciting groups will be joined by five of Thompson’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions.

The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) has developed a great fan following in southern New England due to the hard charging style of its drivers and the great racing that they have exhibited in their many appearances at Thompson. This week’s PASS race is a National Championship Event and will attract race teams from the PASS North and the PASS South Series. This 100 lap North-South race has become a highlight of the midsummer season at Thompson by attracting many of the very best PASS competitors on the east coast.

The Tour-Type Modified portion of the evening will also attract an impressive lineup of Modified race teams. However, their race is slated to be a sprint type event of 40 laps which will require each race team to run flat out from the drop of the green flag. Thompson fans love this intense format that includes qualifying races rather than time trials to determine feature event starting positions.

Both of these races attract the best cars, drivers and teams. Names like Mike and Ben Rowe,

Jay Fogleman, Travis Benjamin, Scott Alexander, Johnny Clark, Bill Penfold, Derek Ramstrom and more will make up the PASS starting field. The Tour-Type Modifieds will be represented by drivers like Ted Christopher, Todd Szegedy, Ryan Preece, Mike Stefanik and Steven Reed just to name a few.

Thompson’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series will present the exciting Sunoco Modifieds, Late Models, Thompson Modified, XTAR/MART Limited Sportsman and the Monster Mini Stocks. Each of these divisions has loyal Thompson fans who return to the speedway every Thursday night for exciting auto racing competition.

Thursday, July 28th marks the second year of the special Monster Mini Stock Northern Challenge. The Northeast Mini Stock Tour will compete in its own feature event and then the best of that Tour will be combined with the best of Thompson’s Monster Mini Stocks for a 20-lap Shoot Out. This format proved to be very popular with fans in its inaugural year and is expected to offer the same kind of excitement when the two meet again on the 28th.

Each race event’s detailed schedule is available on the Thompson web page. Fans are urged to visit the site often for the very latest information on the racing activity at Thompson. www.thompsonspeedway.com.
