Canaan, NH. – The Valenti Modified Racing Series returns to Stafford
Springs (CT) Motor Speedway, Friday night, July 29, to complete the
the running of the Inaugural “Lincoln Tech 80”originally scheduled
June 24.
The race was halted on lap 32 when rain forced track and series officials
to reschedule the completion of the race to Friday.
When flagman John Spence JR displayed the red flag to stop the race,
Keith Rocco, Wallingford, CT., was leading the field. Rocco started on
the pole and was in a heated battle with series point leader Chris Pasteryak,
Lisbon, CT., and Dave Etheridge, Portland, CT.
When the race to complete the remaining 48 laps continues, Rocco, Etheridge,
Matt Hirschman, Northampton, PA, Pasteryak, and Doug Coby, of
Milford, CT., will make up the top five.
The top five in the series point standings have changed since last weekend’s
event at Oxford Plains, (ME).
Pasteryak’s lead (342-324) is now 18 points over Hinckley. Early leader Rowan Pennink, (301) has moved back to third, Norman Wrenn (236) has quietly moved into fourth, and Rob Goodenough, (235) is fifth. Defending champion, Jon McKennedy continues to battle engine problems and has fallen back to sixth in the standings.
The speedway will honor all rain checks from the June 24 event.
Pit gates open at 1:00 pm. Spectator gates will open at 4:15 pm, qualifying heats start at 6:15 pm, and feature events will begin at 7:15pm.
