JOEY, WHAT PUT YOU OUT?

“We think that something broke in the rear end. I hit the gas, and it just spun. I think (Derek Ramstrom) was on the outside of me, and I thought something was going to happen. I thought (the car) was going to come back up the track and take us both out – but luckily it didn’t.”

WAS THERE ANY PRIOR INDICATION YOU MIGHT HAVE A PROBLEM?

“No. It felt fine. I came off the corner and going down the middle of the straightaway, it just revved right up like it popped out of gear or something. It wasn’t like it was in neutral – it was still trying to drive. It was only driving on the left rear.

“Nothing else I could have done. Nothing anyone could have done.”
