Racers Ready for 150 Laps of Action

Even though the 2011 Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South season is winding down, the chase for the championship is heating up as the series heads to Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, North Carolina, for The Labor Day Classic on Saturday, September 3rd. The return to the facility will be the 11th event of the 13-race 2011 season for the Super Late Model series.

At the beginning of July, Ryan Blaney went to victory lane at Ace Speedway over Jay Fogleman, Stephen Nasse, Justin Wakefield and Andy Loden. Blaney will return to the track Saturday looking for the series sweep at the facility and to earn his third win of the 2011 season, but Fogleman, Nasse, Wakefield, Loden and a host of others will also be on hand trying to make sure their name gets etched in the record books as the winner of the event.

Finishing first again would help Blaney in the championship chase as he currently sits second to Fogleman by just a mere 14 points. Loden, Preston Peltier and Wakefield currently occupy the third through fifth positions and will also look to close the gap on Fogleman. Heath Hindman, Steven Legendre, Jimmy Weller, Gray Gaulding and Jody Lavender are the remainder of the top-10 drivers in the points chase, and all are expected to be at Ace Speedway looking for points and the victory.

Even though the series regulars might be considered the favorites for victory lane, there is always the option of a wild card to steal the trophy. Three of the last four winners, Roger Lee Newton, Bubba Pollard and Clay Rogers, haven’t competed the entire season, but still walked away with the victories in their races, helping to shake up the points chase for the regulars. A wild card, or a driver outside the points chase, could again be a spoiler on Saturday.

As with all PASS South Super Late Model events, all 150 laps will be completed under green flag conditions, and all restarts will be double file, lending to excitement from green flag to checkered.

Practice for the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South “The Labor Day Classic” at Ace Speedway will take place on Friday, September 2nd, starting at 4 PM. On Saturday, September 3rd, pit gates open at 12:00 PM with practice starting at 2:00 PM. Time trials will kick off at 5:45 PM with feature racing at 7:00 PM. Legends and Bandoleros will also be in competition.
