Thunder Road

Barre, VT – Tucker Williams of Hyde Park picked up his fourth Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen win of the season, while Lance Rabtoy of Fairfax earned the Airborne Renegade win during Thunder Road’s Triple 50s on Thursday, August 11.

Williams led the majority of the Tiger 50 lapper, while holding off rookie of the year contender Kyle Pembroke. Williams led through several restarts including one with just five laps to go. Pembroke put up a fight on the outside but eventually slid to third as Brendan Moodie took second. Scott Coburn and Dylan Payea completed the top five. Jason Allen, Eric Badore, current point leader Derrick O’Donnell, Matt Potter and Shawn Fleury completed the top ten.

Lance Rabtoy used fourth and second place finishes in the Airborne Renegade twin 25 lap segments to take the mini-Milk Bowl style combined event. Current Renegade point leader Kevin Boutin took second after losing the tie breaker. Boutin was just inches away from the one spot he needed in the final segment when the checkers flew. Larry Underwood won the final segment to take third, while Jason McClatchie won the Hard Luck Bonus after losing the third place tie breaker and settling for fourth.

The Allen Lumber Street Stocks also ran twin 25 lap segments for a mini-Milk Bowl style event. Greg Adams of Hardwick made a last lap three-wide move to take the overall win. Adams, Nick Pilotte, and Bunker Hodgdon crossed the line three-wide to decide the overall winner. Adams used a win in the first segment and edged out Pilotte and Hodgdon for sixth in the second segment to take the overall win. Pilotte and Hodgdon took second and third respectively. Garry Bashaw and Tim Campbell rounded out the top five, while Alan Maynard, Jamie Davis, Cameron Ouellette, David Whitcomb and Joe Fecteau completed the top ten.

Waterbury’s Jason Woodard took another Junkyard Warrior feature win to pad his point lead. He beat second place point man Brock Parrott and Riverside Cyclone driver William Good.

Janelle Hodgdon of Craftsbury went from a rollover in this past Sunday’s Enduro to the winner of the Street Stock/Warrior Powder Puff event. The race saw 17 female friends and significant others climb behind the wheels of the Street and Warriors. Hodgdon piloted Mike Gay’s Street Stock to the win.

Thunder Road International Speedbowl will be back in action next Thursday, August 18 with ACE Hardware night. It will be the second to last point counting event for the Late Models. The Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen, Allen Lumber Street Stocks and Junkyard Warriors will all have a full card of racing.

The Late Models got the night off as several of them are preparing for tomorrow’s (Friday, August 12) qualifying day for the ACT All-Star Challenge. The day will see a total of 100 laps of ACT Late Model qualifying. Forty-four (44) drivers will return on Saturday, August 12 for a 25 and 50 lap segment with the lowest combined score taking the win. Saturday will also see qualifying for the IndyCars and a Whelen Modified race.
