LOUDON, N.H. (Aug. 29, 2011) -During the SYLVANIA 300 weekend New Hampshire Motor Speedway, the NASCAR Hall of Fame and Tommy Baldwin Racing are offering every modified fan’s dream, a Richie Evans ticket package to celebrate his induction into the Hall of Fame.
Evans is recognized as the “king” of modified racing. He captured nine NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour championships in a 13-year span, which included eight consecutive championships from 1978-85. “The Rapid Roman” collected multiple track championships across the Northeast and hundreds of victories, including a 37-win season during a stretch of 60 modified races in 1979. He was also named one of NASCAR’s 50 Greatest Drivers in 1998.
This ultimate ticket package will include a grandstand ticket for Saturday’s triple header on Sept. 24 which includes the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour New Hampshire 100, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series F.W. Webb 175 and the American-Canadian Tour Invitational. It will also feature admittance to Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series SYLVANIA 300, the second race in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, a 2011 NASCAR Hall of Fame yearbook and a 2012 inductee photo rack card from the Hall of Fame.
Guests who purchase this offer will be entered into a drawing to become an honorary pit crew member for the 2010 champion Bobby Santos, during the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race. They will also be entered to watch the green flag drop on Sunday until Dave Blaney’s first pit stop from the No. 36 pit box.
Golden Corral and Tommy Baldwin Racing will pay tribute to Evans by running an orange and light blue paint scheme modeled after the last modified that Evans drove. Santos and the Mystic Missile Team will run a similar-themed modified car on Saturday.
Richie Evans will be inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, N.C. on Jan. 20, 2012. The Induction Ceremony is part of the recently announced NASCAR Acceleration Weekend, which also includes the NASCAR Preview 2012 fan event on Jan. 21.
