A podium finish at Seekonk Speedway kicks off Joey Polewarczyk’s second half of 2011

(Seekonk, MA)- The start of the second half of the 2011 race season got off to a great start Saturday Night for the Joey Polewarczyk Race Team.

Polewarczyk, a native of Hudson, NH made the trip to his favorite track to compete in the Seekonk Speedway, PASS 150. Joey says, “We were fast right off the hauler. I love this track and we have a great record of finishes here.”

“I drew the number one chip, which hasn’t happened for, what seems like forever.” This meant that Joey started on the Pole in the first Heat Race. Polewarczyk captured the Heat race win, which also meant he would start on the pole for the 150-lap main event.

Starting up front in the 26-car field proved very helpful in establishing a rhythm during the race. “I just tried to stay clean and fast, I know my way around Seekonk well”

Polewarczyk set the pace of the race with #27qc Alexander Gringras close in tow. Joey led the first 127 laps and after a restart settled in to second place to #54 Johnny Clark.

Joey added, “Johnny was coming through the field fast and we knew that we would be okay, barring another restart. We had something for Clark in the last 10 laps and then the caution came out.”

“On the last restart with 10 laps to go, the car got incredibly tight all of the sudden and Derek (Ramstrom) really squeezed us up against the wall but hey, that’s racing and we’ll take a third place finish.”

Joey concluded, “Anytime you can come away with a podium finish in a fast, tight race like this, you’ve got to be happy. We came here and got off to the start that we said we were going to and we’re happy.”

“We will now concentrate our efforts towards our Late Model, as we have a slew of big races coming up. We visit New Hampshire Motor Speedway this Friday and Saturday and I feel we are the favorites to win that race, I know we can do it, now we just need to show it.”

Joey Polewarczyk will return to the Pro All-Stars Series, September 18 at Beech Ridge Speedway.
