North Woodstock NH (9/23) DJ Shaw battled a pair of Clarks in Saturday nights’ Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North/National 150 to claim the victory at his home track, North Woodstock NH’s White Mountain Motorsports Park

The victory was Shaw’s third PASS North career win and his first since 2008. Johnny Clark came one step closer to a fourth consecutive PASS North title, finishing second. and Brad Babb backed up his strong run in the Beech Ridge PASS 300 with his first PASS podium in third.

Shaw and Cassius Clark led the full field to the green and Shaw got the jump on the initial green, but Clark drove under Shaw to take over the point on lap eight and the new pilot of the Hight 77 was in control until a restart on lap 104, when Shaw used the outside pole to make his move. Clark’s race went bad at lap 126 when another competitor returned from the pits just as the field was restarting and Clark found himself with nowhere to go but up the race track, losing a ton spots in the process. Clark soldiered on to finish 8th at the checkers.

Meanwhile Johnny Clark had raced and paced his way up to second and it looked like there might be a repeat of PASS North’s last visit to White Mountain when Clark denied Shaw in the waning laps . I t wasn’t to be this time around as Shaw got a great restart off the night’s final yellow at lap 127 and the man who claimed a late model title at the fast quarter mile at age sixteen sealed the deal.

Shaw’s margin of victory was .584 seconds ; eleven of the twenty six starters completed all 150 green flag laps. Shaw, Johnny Clark and Cassius Clark each claimed a qualifier and Gary Smith claimed the consolation round.

The 75 lap PASS Sportsman feature started off on a wild note with a multi car wreck at the front of the field turned the race topsy turvy. When the dust settled championship contenders Dan McKeage and Craig Smith were out on lap two, and points leader Carey Marin was in the pits for repairs. The wreck claimed contender Jarrod Ledger, and sent Sam Gooden Jr. to the rear for his role in the melee. On the restart it was Donnie Morse to the lead and despite the best efforts of Clyde Hennessy and RJ Austin, the veteran couldn’t be rattled, claiming his first series win since 2008. Hennessy was the runner up with Austin a strong third.

Carey Martin recovered from the early race incident and came from the rear for fourth. Shane Tatro’s misfortunes continued, the victim of a qualifying race wreck that left his racer looking like a PASS Modified/PASS Sportsman hybrid. Tatro picked his way through the pack to salvage a fifth place run and stay in contention for the series title.

Gooden Jr. and Martin each won a heat race.

Jay Fogleman took a hit in the PASS National points race with a twenty fifth spot in the final run down; National Championship point leader widened his lead in the series with his seventh place run. The PASS National Championship will be decided on November 26 at Orange County Speedway at the Thanksgiving Classic/Mason-Dixon Meltdown.

PASS North will crown Champions in all three series this Saturday October 1st when the fastest full fender cars and stars return to Oxford (ME) Plains Speedway for Championship Day. Wildcats and the North East Mini Stock Tour complete the five division card that goes green at 1:00 PM
