JOEY, IT SEEMED LIKE LUCK JUST WASN’T ON YOUR SIDE.

“It’s frustrating. I thought we had a third-place car, but with the crate motor we just couldn’t complete a pass. Every time we’d get a run on somebody getting into a corner, we’d have to lift or get chopped. I just couldn’t catch a break.

“Once we lost the clutch, it got tough. We’d lose two or three spots on every restart. We just need some good luck.”

ARE YOU ENCOURAGED BY THE FACT THAT YOU’VE HAD MORE CONSISTENTLY FAST RACE CARS IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON?

“Ever since we got back to what we were running last year, we’ve just been a lot more competitive every week. Not just (in weekly competition) at Beech Ridge – we were good at Seekonk, Lee and White Mountain.

“We’re a lot more prepared when we go to races. It obviously helps going to tracks we’ve actually raced on before. Last year, White Mountain was about the only track we’d been to before other than Beech Ridge – and even then, we’d blown an engine in an ACT race and only had about 30 laps of track time. Now, we’re going to tracks second and third times, and that really helps. We’ve pretty much been better at every track we’ve gone to for a second time this year.”
