BARRE, Vt. – Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine, continued his recent hot streak on the ACT Late Model Tour, finishing fifth in the Bond Auto Labor Day Classic 200 at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vt., on Sunday, September 4. Theriault has posted Top-5 finishes in five consecutive starts dating back to late July. After winning his heat race, Theriault’s car was found too low in technical inspection and sent to the back of the consolation race. AUSTIN, TALK ABOUT YOUR DAY.

“Where can I start? We were the top of the charts in every practice. We had a little incident in the heat race. They found us too low. I don’t think it’s too low, but you take what they give you. We recovered from that luckily. We started way in the back in the Consi and the B-Feature. We were lucky to qualify.

“We had more laps on the left side (tires) than most of these guys. We still came through the field. We planned a little bit different strategy and got tires a little earlier than we probably should have, because we thought weather was coming.

“Overall, we can’t complain. Guys came in and took tires long after we did, but we pulled through. We were a little discouraged after the heat, but we kept with it.”
