Circuit welcomes new affiliate sponsors for 2011-2012 season
CHESHIRE, Conn. (Oct. 29, 2011) – Long before that first flake of precious snow falls here in the northeast, one element absolutely critical to ensuring success for the coming season is sponsor support.
Teams that compete in and fans who follow the East Coast Snocross (ECS) series have reason to cheer, as two high-profile companies have returned as presenting sponsors for 2011-12. AMSOIL, the global leader in synthetics and lubricants, along with Woody’s Traction & Control will both return to support northeastern regional snocross in a big way.
“We’re honored and thrilled to have both AMSOIL and Woody’s back with us for our second season,” said ECS general manager Shawn Longbook. “As our fan base expands, we’ll strive to provide a strong presence for both of these world-class companies here in the east.”
In the world of snowmobile racing, AMSOIL is second-to-none. Their two-cycle oil, including the Interceptor and Dominator lines, are the best money can buy. Interceptor contains high levels of detergent additives to prevent valve sticking. Dominator was created with a focus on high-horsepower and modified racing and trail engines. It contains higher viscosity base oils for best overall protection and additives for higher operating temperatures.
In the mid 1960s, the snowmobile industry was experiencing incredible growth, particularly in racing. For James Musselman and his partner Woody Kozlow, snowmobiling represented the key to future success.
When racing was still young, ice oval racers used three-corner files attached to ski bottoms in an effort to maintain control and win races. Using their knowledge of carbide wear characteristics, and by developing a process to attach the carbide to a metal base, Musselman and Kozlow developed the first pair of carbide runners and delivered them to local racer, Dana Wiltse. The runners proved to be a handling breakthrough, and soon racers throughout the region wanted a pair of “Woody’s®” runners.
Other highly-valued returning sponsors for the 2011-2012 season include New England Race Fuels, Choko Design, Arctic Cat, Malibu Boats, Ski-doo, Polaris, Ingles Performance, daSilva Motorsports, AFX Helmets and RPM’s Apparel. Thanks to Ingles, daSilva and BRP, ECS officials will have reliable BRP machines for trackside use again this coming season.
Everyone at East Coast Snocross would also like to extend a warm welcome to new sponsors C&A Pro Skis, EVS Sports and JonesCam. C&A Pro Skis are used by racers everywhere, EVS offers a great new alternative to the TekVest, and when teams want to record video from a rider’s view, they choose JonesCam. We’re delighted to have all three on board. ECS will announce details on another new sponsor in the coming days.
“We can’t do what we do all winter without support from each of these fine companies,” Longbook added. “All of us at ECS greatly appreciate both the financial and product support they provide. Now we’ll go to work promoting their brands to the best of our ability. I think it’s going to be an exciting season for all of us, from Burke Mountain right through to Pico.”
