Eddie MacDonald and crew chief Rollie LaChance are ready for the Governor’s Cup 150 at Lee USA Speedway on Sunday, April 15 in the opener for the American Canadian Tour. The MacDonald Motorsports Team will unveil a new car built by Dale Shaw for owner Fred Petersen.
“We are really excited to be teamed up with Freddy again to run in the ACT series this season,” said MacDonald. “We are just putting the final touches on the new car and after a day of testing, we are anxious to get it on the track at Lee. Dale did a great job on the car with Rollie very involved in the building so we feel we know the car pretty well already. With any new car there will be a learning curve but we feel comfortable with it.”
Both driver and crew chief currently compete in the NASCAR K&N East Series and are unable to enter all the ACT races yet MacDonald feels right at home in the series saying, “We have competed in the ACT races through the years whenever our schedule permits and both Rollie and I enjoy running with these guys. It is a fantastic tour that is well run and has a ton of talented drivers. Anytime you can win one of these races, you have really accomplished something. We have had great success in the past and hope to continue with a great showing on Sunday. Freddy is a super owner to drive for and it looks like we will be able to participate in more ACT races this year than our East schedule has allowed us in the past.”
Starting the season off at Lee is exciting for MacDonald since he began racing there while attending high school. “It’s is a homecoming to race at Lee. My parents, (Judy and Red) have owned the track since I can remember. My first race when I was kid was at Lee and racing there for many years is always a thrill. There is nothing like performing well at your home track and that is what we hope to do in the Governor’s Cup. We have a lot of family and fans in the area so it will be fun to see them and run well in front of them. We can’t wait to take the green flag.”
