The stock car racing schedule moves to Saturday nights this week at Maine’s Toughest Racing Oval, Unity Raceway.
With a pair of points-counting events in the record books, reigning track champion Jeff Burgess of Fairfield holds a slim, one-point advantage over last Saturday’s main event winner, Brian Whitney of Burnham, in the top-tier Late Model division.
Popular Burnham racer Brent “Poochie” Chase has built an eleven-point advantage over sophomore competitor Joe Harriman of Liberty in the Wildcat division.
Second-year Late Model Pro Four division racer Alex Fernald of Benton has a two-point advantage over multi-time champion Steve Rackliff of Starks.
Cornville teenager Jayson Bosworth sits atop the Monster Mini Stock standings, three points better than Farmington veteran Tim Collins, with reigning champion Zach Audet of Skowhegan just one point behind Collins.
Richmond’s Mike Dulaney has a six-point advantage over Oakland rookie Cody Robbins in the Flyin’ 4 class. Robert MacDonald of Oakland leads teammate Ken Lord of Waterville atop the challenger division rankings.
Racing action continues every Saturday at 6:00 p.m., with a special 1:00 p.m. Sunday card set for May 27 (Memorial Day Weekend) highlighted by the Butch Burgess Memorial Race, with 34-lappers for Late Models and Wildcats topping that card.
