PASS NorthJoey Doiron Racing: PASS North Series
Speedway 660 Race Preview

THE STORY
Joey Doiron of Berwick, Maine, continues to hold the PASS North Series points lead as the tour heads north of the border for the PASS 200 at Speedway 660 in Geary, New Brunswick, on Saturday, June 9. Doiron posted a Top-10 finish last season in this event, and he’s the only driver to finish in the Top-10 in all three PASS North Series races this season. The PASS 200 marks the longest event of the season thus far and the first race with a halfway break for a tire change and pit road adjustments. The driver of the No. 73 JBJ Machine/Scarborough Downs Chevrolet considers Speedway 660 to be among his favorite tracks on the circuit, and he’s hoping to continue with his early-season success.

WHAT THEY ARE SAYING
JOEY DOIRON, Driver of the No. 73 JBJ Machine/Scarborough Downs Chevrolet, On heading to Speedway 660 this weekend: “It’s not a bad track at all. Last year, we had all kinds of experimental stuff we were trying, and obviously it didn’t really work. We still salvaged a Top-10 finish, though. I remember the first time I ever went, I fell in love with the place.
“I guess it’s a driver’s track. It’s more like Star (Speedway), because it’s one of the few tracks we go to where a driver can make up for the car a little bit. It’s definitely a two-groove track. After the last couple of weeks at Star, and White Mountain (Motorsports Park), I can’t wait to get somewhere you can run side-by-side.”

On the timing of having a rainout last weekend at Riverside Speedway: “I think it helps a team like ours, to be honest. It just allowed us to take a little more time to check out the car and do a little more prep to make sure little parts and pieces won’t fall apart in extra 50 laps at the end. You can be sure we’re going to go through everything and make sure this week.

“It’s not somebody’s job to work on (the No. 73) from 7-5 every day. Having a week off definitely doesn’t hurt us or or other teams like ours that don’t have full-time help.”

On whether or not he’s surprised to be the PASS points leader through three races: “Not really. I guess I thought we were good enough to do it. I think we’ve turned a lot of heads, but there’s still a lot of people that don’t consider us a legitimate (championship) contender. That fuels my fire a little more.

“I think we’re a legitimate threat. After (winning) at Beech Ridge, I don’t know what more we’d have to prove. We backed it up at Star (finishing fourth), and I don’t think many people can say they’ve done that this year. I think they’re all starting to take notice.”

UP NEXT
The PASS North Series continues its trip through Eastern Canada with the PASS 150 at Autodrome Chaudiere in Vallee-Jonction, Quebec, on Saturday, June 23… Joey Doiron finished 20th in the event last year after being collected in an accident with a lapped car before the halfway point of the race.
