Barre, VT – This week Casella Waste Management presents the return of weekly Thursday night (June 21) racing to Barre’s Thunder Road. All three premiere divisions will be in action for a full card of racing under the lights to kick off a summer to remember.
After a sensational start to the season, Barre driver Nick Sweet leads the Late Model point standings heading into Thursday night’s event. Close on his tail is Lt. Governor Phil Scott looking to claim a record fourth Late Model title at Thunder Road. Fresh off his win, defending champion Dave Pembroke and Waterbury’s Brett Wheeler join the group of drivers seeking to dethrone Sweet atop the Late Model standings.
“Bad Boy” Bobby Therrien has emerged at the top of the heap in the Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen after an extraordinary drive from the 23rd starting position to second place last Sunday (June 17). Mike Ziter and 2012 feature winner Josh Demers will continue their chase for the championship from second and third positions respectively, while Brendan Moodie Jr. and former Tiger Champion Shawn Fleury look to strike from fourth and fifth.
The Allen Lumber Street Stocks have found Jefferson, NH’s Nick Pilotte to be the driver to beat in 2012 after a last lap melee stripped Garry Bashaw of the lead last Sunday. Bashaw will look for redemption on Thursday just three points out of the overall lead. Cameron Ouellette will try to continue a hot sophomore season from third, while top five point men Troy Kingsbury and Bunker Hodgdon look to close the gap.
The action will all begin at 6:30pm this Thursday night (June 21) at Thunder Road sponsored Casella Waste Management Night. Adult admittance is $10, children 6-12 are $3, a family pass is $20, and children under 6 get in free.
