Barre, VT – Thunder Road International Speedbowl officials have announced the postponement of the “We Dig Barre” event scheduled for Thursday, July 26 due to rain. The “We Dig Barre” event, featuring the Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen Heritage 100, has been rescheduled for Sunday, July 29 with a 4:30pm post time.

Though Friday is the normally scheduled rain date for “The Nation’s Site of Excitement”, co-owners Ken Squier and Tom Curley felt it was necessary to move the event to a twilight Sunday slot. “We did not want to interfere with the labor and effort made by Barre to celebrate their heritage,” said Squier, talking about Barre’s Heritage Festival which will take place Friday evening. “We wanted to make sure We Dig Barre gets the event it deserves, and we hope we can be of help by shifting to Sunday,” he finished.

Curley also pointed out “This is a special night for our up and coming stars. It’s one of the only nights our Tigers get to be showcased, and for them, it’s as important as the big shows to our late models,” he finished.

The stars of Barre’s Thunder Road will have to wait a couple more days to kick off the second half of their 2012 season. Point leaders in all three Thunder Road divisions survived last week’s double points Mid-Season Championship events.

The event will also feature the ACT Late Model Championship Cars, currently lead by Barre’s own Nick Sweet who holds a 78 point lead over Trampas Demers as he looks for his second career “King of the Road” title in the Late Model division. In just his third season behind the wheel of a Bond Auto Tiger Sportsman, Barre’s Jason Allen sits atop the point standings, six points ahead of Mid-Season Champion Shawn Fleury. Jefferson, NH’s Nick Pilotte holds a five point lead over Lyndonville’s Dean Switser in the Allen Lumber Street Stock ranks.

The “We Dig Barre” event featuring the Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen Heritage 100 will be run on Sunday, July 29 with a post time of 4:30pm. The front gates open at 3:00pm. Adult general admission tickets are $10 each, kids (ages 6 to 12) are $3, and a family ticket (two adults, two kids) is $20.
