Speedway 95Despite having 100 pounds added to his car in the interest of competition, having a distributor break in his qualifying race and starting 18th in a 20 car field of Dysart’s Late Models, Mike Hopkins of Hermon methodically worked his way up through the field and, with the aid of 5 caution flags closing the field up, took the lead for good from Ellsworth’s Andy Saunders on a lap 37 restart and led the final 13 laps to win the 50 lap Sinclair Towing Service series event. Andy Saunders of Ellsworth finished in the second spot after leading for 23 laps until Hopkins took the top spot away in the closing laps. Brenton Parritt of Steuben finished in third with Dean Smart of Bradley running a strong race to finish fourth. Phil Richardson of Hermon challenged Smart for the position over the final five laps, but Smart was strong enough to relegate Richardson to fifth place finish. Rounding out the top 10 were pole sitter Wayne Parritt of Steuben in sixth, Shane Clark of Winterport recovering from an early race spin to finish seventh, Duane Seekins of Stockton Springs eighth, Joey Doyon of Winterport ninth and Ryan Deane of Winterport tenth. Seventeen of the 20 starters finished the race that was slowed by the caution flag a total of 6 times for minor incidents involving only one or two cars each time, mos tof whom recoverd and continued the race. Don Alexander Jr. of Carmel was thhe only driver towed to the pit and unable to continue in the race following a lap one collision with Nick Kinney of Danforth and the front stretch wall, that sent him to the pit with a severly damaged race car.

Steve Moulton of Holden returned to Maine State Lottery Victory Lane in the Maine State Lottery Sportsman Division as he led the entire 25 lap distance of the feature race. Jeremy Glazier of Appleton and Kris Watson of Hermon staged a duel for the second spot over the final 5 laps with Glazier winning the battle and finishing second. Watson took third in his first appearance of the season in the division. Fourth went to Kris Matchett of Skowhegan with Dustin Bisson of Greene finishing fifth.

Andrew McLaughlin of Harrington won the caution free Strictly Street feature from the pole, with Jim Carr Jr. of Clifton finishing in second after closing to within 2 car lengths of McLaughlin at the finish. Ryan Beale of Cherryfield finished third followed by 15 year old Matt Kimball of Cornville fourth and Alex Berry of Harrington fifth.

Zach Audet of Skowhegan won the Sport-Four feature in only his second time out in a new car. Audet took the lead following a lap 9 caution in a race that saw the leaders bunched up at the front and swapping positions often for most of the race. Darren Durrell of Newburgh finished in second, followed by Carmel’s Ted Ryder in third. Emma Libby of Glenburn finished fourth with Rick Saucier of Eagle Lake relegated to the fifth finishing spot after being penalized two spots for jumping the start of the race by passing two cars before crossing the starting line at the drop of the green.

Jeremy Scott of Carmel won the 20 lap Bomber feature after starting from the pole. Milford’s Garett Hayman worked his way up from the last starting spot to finish second after passing third place Fred Ashmore Jr. of Hancock on the 16th lap. Chris Carroll of Greenbush finished fourth and Mark Lane of Newport was fifth.
