nhms_tag_11 ‘The Magic Mile’ set for another blockbuster summer schedule

LOUDON, N.H. (December 13, 2012) – A sizzling summer slate has gotten even hotter with the announcement of the Whelen Modified Tour and K&N Pro Series East to New Hampshire Motor Speedway’s NASCAR Sprint Cup weekends in 2013.

With its Sprint Cup Series and Nationwide Series dates already locked in, NASCAR recently unveiled the schedules for the Whelen Modified Tour and K&N Pro Series East. The mods will visit “The Magic Mile” on July 13 and Sept. 20, while the K&N Pro Series East will makes its only trip to the Granite State on Sept. 20.

“We take a lot of pride in having a jam-packed race schedule for our fans and we’ll do that again in 2013,” said Jerry Gappens, executive vice president and general manager of NHMS. “These might be the stars of tomorrow in NASCAR, but it’s often that these two series end up stealing the show.”

The Whelen Modified Tour has been racing at New Hampshire Motor Speedway since 1990. Mike Stefanik, who picked up a win at Loudon this past July, leads all drivers with eight-career victories at “The Magic Mile.” Stefanik’s victory was a epic, as he beat Ron Silk back to the Granite Stripe by 0.003 seconds.

The Town Fair Tire 100 will be the first of two races on Saturday, July 13, preceding the NASCAR Nationwide Series 200. The 21st annual Sprint Cup Series New Hampshire 300 will run on Sunday, July 14.

The Whelen Modified Tour will run in conjunction with the K&N Pro Series East in September. The K&N Pro Series East has raced in Loudon since 1990. The series sponsor has gone over several makeovers, including being formerly known as the Busch East Series, Busch North Series and Camping World Series East. Brad Leighton leads all pilots with eight-career wins, three more than the next driver.

The Whelen Modified Tour and K&N Pro Series East will be part of a tripleheader Saturday on Sept. 20 that includes the American-Canadian Tour Bond Auto Parts ACT Invitational. The Sprint Cup Series SYLVANIA 300, the second race in the Chase for the championship, will make its 17th consecutive fall stop at NHMS on Sunday, Sept. 21.
