(Jan. 15, 2013) – Bringing an unmatched passion for motorsports and advertising, David McGrath has been promoted to vice president of marketing and promotions for New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Jerry Gappens, executive vice president and general manager of New Hampshire Motor Speedway, officially announced the promotion today.

McGrath, 49, joined the speedway in November of 2011 as the director of advertising and promotions. He was recently voted by his peers as the speedway’s Employee of the Year for 2012.

“I’m excited for new challenges and responsibilities,” said McGrath. “This is a great opportunity and I look forward to enhancing the speedway’s marketing efforts.”

McGrath’s new role will be to oversee all marketing aspects of the speedway, including working with group services on marketing and selling ticket packages, creative direction on commercials, creating event schedules, working with trade shows, email strategy, media plans and placement.

“David is a dynamic and result-driven individual with an impressive career track that combines motorsports, media, marketing, sales, management and agency work into a very impressive and unique skill set.” said Gappens. “In a short time, he has made a positive impact here and I expect great things from him as we move forward.”

Prior to joining New Hampshire Motor Speedway, McGrath worked in motorsports as the marketing manager for the pro racing side of Sports Car Club of America in Englewood, Colo. There, he was responsible for sponsor acquisition, contingency programs and marketing from the sponsorship side to a fan base of over 55,000.

Before joining the Magic Mile, McGrath worked for Comcast Spotlight as the area sales manager for northern Colorado and Wyoming. McGrath served as the ad sales manager before moving to the Portsmouth, N.H., office as a local sales manager.

Born and raised in Marlboro, Mass., McGrath moved from New England to Colorado in 1989, where he spent 19 years until moving back to New England in 2008. McGrath currently lives in Kennebunk, Maine, with his wife, Marybeth, and two children Garrett, 16, and Samantha, 8.

McGrath is a graduate of Metropolitan State University in Denver, Colo., where he received a B.A. in speech communications and a minor of English.
