PASS North Series: Mulkern Racing
Oxford Plains Speedway Race Report

OXFORD, Maine – Bobby Timmons III of Windham, Maine, posted his best career PASS North Series result when he finished fifth in the Ripley & Fletcher Ford 150 at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine. Timmons led a two-car Mulkern Racing effort, qualifying 11th in the 34-car field and running inside the Top-5 throughout the second half of the event in the No. 48 Southern Maine Chrysler Dodge Jeep/Timmons Machine Dodge. Following an eighth-place finish at Oxford Plains last October, Timmons now has Top-10 finishes in each of his only two career PASS North Series starts. It looked like the team would have more than one car in the Top-5 at the checkered flag, but Scott Mulkern of Falmouth, Maine, blew a right front tire while running fourth just 10 laps from the finish.

BOBBY, WHAT DID YOU THINK OF YOUR RUN TODAY?

That was as good as could be expected. We practiced on junk rubber all day yesterday and all day today, and we didn’t really change much. We put sticker tires on this afternoon, and we were really good. We had a little bit of a side-bite issue… and we couldn’t quite find the happy medium. We were too loose in the heat and too tight in the feature, but the longer we went, the better we got.

Those cautions at the end, they always kill me. It never fails.

DID YOU HAVE ANYTHING FOR THE LEADERS AT THE END?

Not really. I was on the bottom (on the last restart), but for some reason – I don’t know if it’s the car or me or whatever – we just take two or three laps to get up to speed. That last restart, it was tight so I was stabbing the brakes to try and get it to turn. The cross-member hit the ground so bad, I don’t even think the left front hit the ground so I couldn’t get it to turn.

HOW DOES IT FEEL TO GET YOUR FIRST CAREER TOP-5 IN A PASS RACE?

It’s cool. I’ve seen a lot of guys in this series for years and years only get one or two of them, so in our second start to finish fifth (is nice). If a couple different things went went our way, a couple adjustments another way, I think we could have had a Top-3 car.

But I’m not going to complain with fifth. The car’s in one piece, it’s a good start to the year, and hopefully if we run like this I can convince my old man to let us run Beech Ridge in a couple of weeks.
