WHAT THEY ARE SAYING
BOBBY TIMMONS III, Driver of the Mulkern Racing No. 48 Community Pharmacies/Timmons Machine Dodge, On returning to PASS North Series competition this weekend: “It’s all about seat time and having fun. We’re coming off a Top-10 run there last year, and we’re bringing the same thing this time around – just with a lot more confidence. I’m really just looking to improve on that.
“We’re really focused on what we’re doing with Mulkern Racing. When we’re not racing ourselves, we’ll go and help Scott’s team at the track with whatever they need.”
On the biggest thing he learned in his PASS North Series debut last season: “You learn something every time you get behind the wheel of a car – it doesn’t matter – from practice to qualifying to racing. Myself, Corey (Bubar), Alan Tardiff, we all race weekly at Beech Ridge, and we all ran up in the Top-10 of that race (at Oxford Plains) in October. I feel like we can match up with the regular guys that are there with PASS every week.
“I think the big thing I learned is how crucial track position in those races. We were really good early in that race, and then we got turned around. We were just as fast as the leaders at the end, but we just couldn’t get all the way up through again. For 150-lap race without any pit stops, the most crucial thing in the race is track position. Once you lose it, it’s hard to get it back.”
On his plans for future PASS races in 2013: “As of right now, this is the only one we’re planning on. The three (PASS races at) Beech Ridge are all up in the air. We don’t want to exhaust our whole budget and wear out our resources for the year when it comes to our weekly stuff.
“The ones in the middle of the season or at the end of the season, it really depends how things go for us. It’s just going to be on a race-by-race basis.”
