LOUDON, N.H. (June 14, 2013) – Overcast skies gave way to a beautiful afternoon, just in time to cast rays of sunshine across the Magic Mile during first day of the 90th annual Loudon Classic motorcycle weekend.
Elite riders from the Loudon Road Race Series (LRRS) and Side Car Racers Association (SCRA), as well as amateur riders battled it out around the 1.6-mile road course over nine races, concluding with the exhilarating Motard race, an eight-lap sprint in which competitors battle on a combination of the asphalt road course, as well as areas of the track that includes gravel, grass and several high-flying jumps.
Among the race winners on Friday was Shane Narbonne (Tyngsboro, Mass.), who dominated the Motard event despite a spill on the final lap. Tyler Sweeney finished second and Matthew Gendron took the third podium spot.
“It wasn’t bad considering I just hopped on it before the race started, and I had a bad fall, but I was able to get up and going and hold on to win,” said Narbonne, a two-time Loudon Classic Middleweight Grand Prix winner. “I knew Tyler would be there and that a good start would be important. Luckily, I got that.”
Other day one winners include Robert Balla and Nick Bailey (Vintage Sidecar), Steve Fletcher and Fabio Peturcelli (Modern Sidecar), Trevor Arvidson (Super Singles), Samuel Greenwood (Amateur Super Singles), Jake Vader (125 Grand Prix), Roland Arsenault (Amateur 125 Grand Prix), Steven Heider (Production Twins), Cadman Fenton (Novice Formula 1), Larry Stuteville (Novice Formula 3), John Linn (Amateur GTL), Rick Doucette (GTL), Cory Hildebrand (GTO), William Desmarais (Amateur GTO), Scott Greenwood (GRU) and Braden Levesque (Amateur GTU).
