dj49Scarborough, ME – After consistent rain throughout the week cancelled the PASS North Series race at Canaan Speedway, DJ Shaw and the Precision JLM team made their way to Beech Ridge Motor Speedway for their biggest race of the Nascar Whelen All-American Series, the Pro Series 100 lapper. Driving a recently purchased, Shaw was rebranded in a black and white #49 car for the evening, and it made good on its maiden voyage with the team.

After a bad pill draw to determine his spot in the lineup, Shaw had to make his way from the rear of the field in the second heat race. It wouldn’t take him long before he made his way to the front though, as he proved he’d be one to beat in the 100 lapper with a sixth place finish from the rear.

With the sixth place run in the heat, Shaw lined up 12th in the 24 car field for the 100 lap main event. After skating through the races early incidents, Shaw quickly found himself in the top five and was on his way to the front. Shaw worked his way up to second by the races midway point, and was setting his sights on Mike Rowe in the 24 car, who had dominated the race. With three laps to go, Shaw was pouncing on Rowe before a spinning lapped car forced the leaders to avoid, leaving Rowe with a bent right front. Shaw inherited the lead, and drove away after the late race restart to take the win over his father, Dale Shaw in the 68. This was the first one-two finish for the feather-son duo.

“We had a great car tonight, I’m proud to put this thing in Victory Lane in our first time with it,” Shaw said after the race, “It was too bad what happened to Rowe, we were going to have a great race for the win and hated to see that happen. We learned a lot tonight though, and we’ll be back next Saturday night for the PASS race.”

With his third win of the season, Shaw has never looked stronger, and the team is anxious to get back to the 3/8th mile track next Saturday for the “Southern Maine Motors 150” PASS North Series event. Racing is set to kick off at 6:00PM!
