Jensen wins race – Mercer’s take the title!

September 15, 2013- Steven Jensen, from Douglas Harbour, won his first ENDURO 200 at Speedway 660 on Sunday. Jensen led all three segments of the race to take the checkered flag. Clifford and Chuck Mercer, who finished second in the race won the 2013 ENDURO Championship for the second year in a row.

“We usually come up here to smash and bang, but today we thought we would try to actually win the race and it feels pretty good to get our first ever victory” said Jensen. “Our team works hard to keep our ENDURO car ready to race, but all of the guys want to thank our wives who put up with us and let us come out to Speedway 660 for some fun.”

Chuck and Clifford Mercer had their string of three straight ENDURO wins broken on Sunday, but they were strong enough to take second in the race. That was good for their second consecutive ENDURO championship.

“We put a new front clip on the old car for today’s race because we knew it was going to be rough out there, but she held together to give us another title” said Chuck Mercer. “ENDURO racing is a lot of fun, but it’s hard to keep these cars running, so next year we’re thinking of stepping up to the DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock Division.”

Pat Sharp, a three time ENDURO champion finished third in Sunday’s race and Justin Kenny won the cash award for spinning the most cars in the final 50 lap segment.

The Championship ENDURO 200 wraps up the 2013 racing season at Speedway 660. Racing will resume in the Geary Woods in May of 2014.
